Body Types and dreaming about Heart Attack Heaven

Gemma Correll Body Shapes a Handy Guide

You may have seen this Body Type graphic by Gemma Correll before — but dievca is hoping to bring a bit of joy to your day.  she is sitting here in the cool morning air, giggling.

The body type that is making her smile the most is the PIEROGI.  For a time, every August, her family would have a picnic/family reunion. dievca hesitates to say “family reunion” because ALL were welcome.  If you met someone at the ACE hardware store, you invited them. Simple.

(dievca is now singing: “ACE is the place with the helpful hardware man.”)

Whoops – that might be for another post…c’mon dievca don’t get distracted.

At the picnic, the food offerings didn’t include traditional BBQ fare though it did included a Roast Pig on a spit. But, then the food leaned towards Eastern European offerings: Dumplings with filling (pierogies), Stuffed Cabbage (halupki), Polish Sausage (kielbasa), lots of butter, fried onions and sauerkraut~ dievca used to call the picnic:

Heart Attack Heaven.

The tradition has faded as family members have passed away and cousins scattered around the country.  dievca is thinking it may be time to revive the tradition and put out an “ALL CALL” to the cousins.  The picnic was a great deal of work, but everyone loved it.  Our digital age needs to offer more moments of human touching.

OK, the wheels are turning in dievca’s head and she knows that her older cousin is a genius at making halupki (folding those cabbage leaves properly is an art). Time to start texting, e-mailing and calling – let’s put those electronics to humane usage.

XO

ace is the place for the helpful hardware FOLK…they’ve gone PC in their commercials, dievca! (old advertising gal am i)

is there sour cream for those pierogies? because, yum!!! yes, family has scattered, and it’s nice to reconnect. however in my case it just points out the gulf of what i don’t have in common with blood. i end up feeling more sad and alone at those things ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ugh.

I am sure we can dig up some sour cream for you!
We are a pretty relaxed clan with ‘all walks of life’ represented. You don’t have to have anything in common — why be the same? Just be you and I am guessing that your family will be amazed by you. PS. I rarely worry about how people see me. I just focus my attention on someone else’s life and listen closely. Everyone accepts someone who listens. XO

Your picnic sounds perfect, but no Spinning Porky for me! Heap my plate with the stuffed cabbage, sauerkraut and pierogies please. I never know how to cook them so I’d appreciate a few pointers while I munch, thanks!

Lived in Oak Park for years and there was a place nearby where we could get the best pierogi. Growing up we had friends that were German and Polish so I have a thing for Eastern European food. Out here I can get wonderful Russian food. Oh, I can fold cabbage leaves, thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Naaa! If you wash it all down with some good strong vodka you’ll be fine! But don’t overdo it or you’ll end up looking like the ”existential nothingness” Love dumplings! ๐Ÿ™‚
