What to do? What to do? A Milestone…A Year.

“dievca”

was created.

The First Post: Eddie Borgo Submissive Cuff

Master woke up and asked dievca, “What did you decide to do about the blog?”

“You have set up posts for 365 days in a row, with a few odds/ends and extras thrown in.
It’s a lot, dievca. I know that you wanted to finish out the year, but now you don’t have to post daily.”

Sigh – what should a dievca do?

Are people being kind, reading the blog daily? Or does it truly give pleasure?
I am writing the blog for me, 1st. Am I bored with it? Is it getting old or stiff?
Would it be more fresh if I limited posts to 3 a week? Or is consistency the key?
Does the dual identity of fashion and submission work or do the topics detract from creating an audience?
Should I really worry about that if I am creating for myself?

I’m better under pressure. I get more done if I have a million and one things to do. If I don’t keep up with posts, will I let the blog die?
What was the original reason that I started the blog? The true reason?

I have had an excellent and true blog friend in Errant Satiety who stuck by me from the very 1st post and was often the only “like” on those beginning days. Case in point: Latex Skirt: Daniel James

And the creepiness that my Shamless Suitsupply  post drives a great deal of strange traffic to the blog. The numbers and locations are astounding…

Maison Bentley Style pushed me out there with an invite to a fabulous party. Anami Blog, thesubmissionofelle, Errant SatietyBoPeepMeetsMrWolf and sh3rayah were kind enough to share Awards with me and constant comments, plus excellent conversations.

I also thank the other people who comment regularly: Pelelotus, Lia in Brussels, Reticent Mental Property, Jackie Mallon, Esther, Mr. Modigliani, Yuriy Ku (Drop), theagingsub, Allison at Long and Luxe, Mel, Fashion Mayann, Little Kaninchen, Mynx’s Sir and any other people who have been generous enough to comment.

I went through the loss of my WordPress promotions due to my blog content with relative ease with help from the D/s, BDSM crowd.  My fashion friends are loyal and seem to stick by me even when I write about my submission or strange fantasies. They wait for the next fashion post. 🙂

I, dievca, will think about my personal issues and reasons for the blog.

I, dievca, want to ask my WP friends to offer up their advice about the blog. Please be honest. I would prefer brutally honest and not gentle hints for change. Consider me thick-headed.
If you prefer to e-mail me directly, rather that use the comment section: dievca9@gmail.com

We will see what happens tomorrow.

BTW – if I decide never blog, again (and those 15 draft posts do not get used….) I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time, consideration, kindness, joy and sharing.
You ALL are special — including the silent watchers.

XO

Happy anniversary! Sure you evolution will be as interesting as your past. Personally I don’t feel that is is anyone else’s business to influence someone else’s blog, it is a reflection of YOU.

Thank you! I grew up being heavily criticized and needed to be, so I feel that it is good feedback – not a negative. I would just process the suggestions and utilize what works for me. We can always strive to be better, even in our personal/ private endeavors.
That said — I always love your pieces! XO

  4. My dear dievca, why worry so much about something that’s meant to be fun? That’s supposed to give you pleasure and put you in touch with people with similar interests or ideas? You can post daily, monthly or never, for whatever reason; just remember: your blog, Your rules! We’ll just go along 🙂 xxx

98% of the time this blog has been a joy — I am just open to feedback from excellent Blog friends who read other blogs and offer gorgeous things themselves. They might see things that I cannot because I am in the middle of the whirlwind. 🙂

me…creative, yes, genius, no. i know what you are going through, though. i’ve walked away from jewelry making a couple of times. once, because i wanted to expand my education…my foray into metalsmithing classes (and yes, flames, caustic chemicals…not good for a home studio with Spike the cat). then i got sick, lost direction and began writing for a bit. went back to jewelry because i got annoyed at a so-called writer friend. it’s sad to think that direction can change for good and/or stupid reasons. i regret nothing. trying to be the best me/you is hard…and taking pause is smart.

i hope you continue. i like the content…it’s all learning for me. i like that and i like you. xxx

I love the fashion. I don’t pay much attention to it otherwise, but I love your style 🙂

Thank you, Cinn! That is good to know. Some people are not into fashion, I get that completely — so if I can offer something to capture their attention, their Sir might end up with a visual delight! That cannot be bad, right?

When I catch your posts, I truly enjoy reading them. You write really well, I like your voice and everything flows like a long autumn dress billowing in the wind. I personally dig the Ds/Fashion infused posts and want more. Oh and I especially like that you often choose to include color to spice things up. In the end though, you have to go with your heart and write what feels right to you first and foremost. But I hope to read those draft posts soon. 🙂

Thank you, Ms. Bliss! I don’t consider myself a writer – so your saying that things are coming across well is a godsend. I just “talk” my writing. I was very good with the Ds/Fashion at the beginning (look at some of the original posts if it is not too troublesome to go back), then life got in the way with Master and I – so I drifted. I am moving more heavily into submission again, so you should be seeing some D/s infused fashion options coming back. XO

  8. ( if I “Like” this post I feel as though I’m supporting an effort to shut down a friend…who knew one could feel like a friendship exists between people who have only flirted on-line?…only everyone who is on-line…ahem) Now… a year is a commitment. Another year is either a joy or a job. I would miss “dievca” in my mornings. I’d miss funny posts, introductions to new art, artists, artifacts. I’d miss your fashionable direction, your BDSM insight and your personal stories. But most of all, I’d miss your comments and banter and understanding. Sounds like it’s all about me, Me, ME! As your reader, it absolutely is. Feed my mind a little more joy if you have it in you… and btw: I hear gold is the new nude. Just a little fashion feedback for your Sir… if I may be so bold. http://violavagenes.wordpress.com/2014/09/28/the-new-nude/-

Ahh, Ret, I didn’t mean the drama — I am just taking stock. It is always good to review where you have been and make a plan to where you would like to go. I promise it is ALL about you, but I fit in there, too! Creation for yourself is one thing, but being able to share is much more fulfilling and fun. Plus, you (for instance) are a much better writer than me — so if you offer feedback, I am in! Everyone wants to be a better version of themselves – to get that you have to be open and let in suggestions and sincere criticism.
I took today off to take stock, plus I am fending off a hangover (NYC Burlesque Festival, last night.). Master and I are meeting for dinner and he will give his opinions — being a journalist, they are usually really good. I need a refresh moment. XO

Oh Dievca! I hear you and understand the need to take stock. It is like a second relationship, blogging. I have had to make some concessions myself over the few months, cutting down number of posts, hoping my peeps stay with me (you did :-). So I know. I KNOW!
But I would miss you. Although it’s entirely your decision, I would. You’re the only real life practicing Submissive I know (that I know of!) and I learn so much! But that’s not the only reason I stick around. You’re interesting and you think and you’re passionate and emotional and complicated and stylish. My favorite kind.
Criticism? I think I’ve told you before how well conceived your blog (brand–for want of a better word) is: it’s unique and focussed and stylish.
The loyalty of your early bloggers is something to treasure. I was reflecting on that earlier this week. The people who engage versus the people who just click Like in the hope that you return the favor are the difference between those who hold the door open, offer to carry one of your heavy bags and walk with you to the end of the block versus those who just smile, don’t notice your need and carry on about their business.
I’ll leave it with you…no pressure…listen to this wee tune while you think…:-)

Thank you, Jackie, for your comments — I was able to gather some thoughts when talking this through last evening with Master. I still have a desire to blog on some excellent topics, Autumn Fashion and relationship items with Master have rejuvenated me. I think the flow might be seasonal. Master had some excellent suggestions for avoiding feeling stuck – he suggested to add some of my photos (things not people) and open up the topic selection. C’mon NYC offers a lot, right?
Thank you for the song, too. A totally Classic in my mind — playing on WXRT in Chicago from a past life. XO

Well dievca, I understand now and congratulations on your blog anniversary! I know a bit how you feel as I, myself, feel that I have changed a great deal and I wonder whether I have outgrown or outlived my reasons for blogging. But what I would say is that the one constant is that there are friends here that are very good people, and no matter what we write or don’t write, many of us have relied on each other for input, for moral support or even just to feel a little bit more alive and appreciated during the day. I will say that you have been a good friend and even a coach at time to me at times. I don’t read every day as much of it is about fashion, but I do greatly value you as a person. Our inner direction changes over time and if you feel yourself headed down a slightly different path, I would just encourage you to bring your blog along that same path. xo

Thank you, MM. I know that you have done some soul searching in the past — so, I thought you would understand. I think you were more upset about the loss of WP promotions than I was~ I also think that you may be a bit more social than I am. I am just going to work with things that make me “feel” and develop a time frame that keeps me “fresh”. It’s been suggested that I open up the topic pool, a little bit and offer my poor attempts at “art” (photo and words). I’ll be starting on Oct. 1st with a poem — not fashion, not my photo but a cool cropping of a fashion photo. XO

  11. A few things right off the (spiked) cuff:

J’adore your blog. I love the rawness and the elegance of the D/s presentation of fashion and decor. It’s exciting, it’s fresh, it’s you. Your voice from this perspective is sometimes frank, sometimes wild, sometimes witty, sometimes drop dead breathtaking, and always always sophisticated. In short, I keep coming back because your spirit seems to slide through every post, in thought, word, research and of course, in your comments and engagement!

    You are wicked creative, d.

I am late to the comments here and I see you’ve gotten some fabulous feedback and you’ve talked things through with M. Perhaps allowing yourself the freedom to expand your creativity is the key to keeping that blog-loving feeling alive?

In truth, if I had the posting frequency thing figured out I would be doing better myself lol. Ahhh, always a work in progress, always a beginner in some way.

But please, I beg of you, don’t go away 😦

Peace and light on your fresh new journey! Go Big. xoxo

Thank you! You have been kind enough to take the time to share valuable comments and thoughts. I am here, listening – I promise! I’ve set-up for every other day, starting on Oct. 1st — but that may switch to more often when I am inspired and driven by timeliness, then less often when life and lack of material/inspiration gets in the way.
I am going to try to see if some of my other creative work finds the blog! Love you!
PS. I do have a post about that sparkly Target skirt. XO

I haven’t read anybody else’s reply because I just want to speak from my heart. All we should ever do our lives is what makes us happy. By my own experience, if I do not do what truly makes me happy I will being miserable. Not good for me, not good for Coach, not good for my friends, and not good for my kids.

I love how you mix your fashion sense and ideas in with your submission. It is beautiful and uniquely you and I would miss it a great deal if you stopped doing it. No one else is doing what you do.

Your blog is original and connecting your fashion to D/s is right up my ally and many others as well.
I am always watching and subPorting your progress. I don’t always get time to praise every post but know that I always look forward to seeing what fashion connection you cum up with next. Maybe you can stop by my site and chat sometime.

I’ve come by your site and looked at what is open to me. I was able to leave some “likes” I’m still not registering on anyone’s site (Others have opened sites, too, I told them as well)
It limits what I can see and do, I know. But, my privacy is more important to me and we set the policy.
Hope you are healing well and looking fabulous!
