A denim dress never goes out of style. Why? Denim by itself is considered to be a timeless fabric that works for different weather conditions and occasions. There are classic denim dresses, as well as modern styles with sexy cuts and mini lengths. A denim dress can be styled with all kinds of shoes, starting from sneakers, flats and wedge sandals to sexy stilettos and classy pumps.

The Fabric:

Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck. While a denim predecessor known as dungaree has been produced in India for hundreds of years, denim itself was first produced in the French city of Nîmes under the name “serge de Nîmes”.

The most common denim is indigo denim, in which the warp thread is dyed, while the weft thread is left white. As a result of the warp-faced twill weaving, one side of the textile is dominated by the blue warp threads and the other side is dominated by the white weft threads. This causes blue jeans to be white on the inside. The indigo dyeing process, in which the core of the warp threads remains white, creates denim’s signature fading characteristics. ~Wikipedia

The Dress:

The Trucker style of denim dress takes its cue from the Levi’s Type III jacket with some distinctive features to look for:

  • Cropped cut that ends at the waist
  • Slim, tailored cut
  • Buttons at sleeve, pocket, and front
  • Chest pockets with pointed flaps
  • Generally, two slanted (or “V-shaped”) seams that run from chest pocket to waist
  • A point collar

Add some length and you’ve got a Denim Trucker Dress:

Though dievca loves the look of the Cotton Citizen Caballo Dress (photo – top of post), she is rocking the less expensive Lucky Brand Trucker Dress.
Why? 100% cotton vs. some lycra.
dievca always goes with the stretch! she’s planning on snakeskin boots with the dress or maybe tights and OTK boots for winter. Hmmm, a casual presentation for Master…time to think on it.
