Coffee and the morning commute – Moynihan Train Hall

It was silent, it was clean, it’s beautiful as it is new
and dievca managed to drip her cappuccino on the floor as she took a photo.
she felt like an a** as she scrambled to wipe the drips up with her glove.

The new Train Hall at Pennsylvania Station, NYC:

Daniel Patrick Moynihan Train Hall is an expansion of New York City’s Pennsylvania Station into the adjacent James A. Farley Building, the city’s former main post office building.

Amtrak and the Long Island Rail Road are served by the Hall and you can get to the subway.

One of the controversies is that the Hall is closed from 1 am to 5 am (Pennsylvania Station is open 24/7 and many homeless people find refuge there).

An excellent article about Penn Station’s History and the new building can be read here (Bloomberg City Lab).

The American equivalent of London’s re-imagining of St. Pancras a few years back. And at least as beautiful. Stanford White would approve, I think. (And great photos, btw)
