The good news is that she woke up at 5 am, raring to go!
A little Booker T. to get her (and you) sliding into this Sunny and Chilly NYC Autumn Sunday. XO
According to Booker T. Jones, the composition was originally to be called “Funky Onions”, but the sister of Jim Stewart thought it “sounded like a cuss word”; it was therefore renamed “Green Onions”.
Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper, Al Jackson and Donald “Duck” Dunn. An iconic group on their own, they also were the session musicians for so many of the great Stax-Volt recordings of the later 60’s and earlier 70’s. Steve Cropper, is the guy Sam Moore famously exhorts to “PLAY it, Steve!” on Sam and Dave’s studio recording of “Soul Man.” What better way to prepare to rise and face the insolent daylight?
