Happy 4th of July! Renewal of faith in the USA

Recently, I’ve been disappointed and disillusioned in the USA. Perhaps that has to do with my own failings and regrouping. But, as I drive through the Midwest and see how gorgeous my country is ~ as I witness NY State working to protect “Pro Choice” rights and view a “Pro Choice” rally in front of Lambeau Field (Home of the Green Bay Packers football team located in a heavily Catholic/Christian community) I am starting to believe in the USA doctrine, again. We can disagree, we can argue, we have smart people and morons living together – we will do stupid things – we are human. But, we, as United States Citizens, can state our feelings for good or bad. Then stumble along to address those issues.
One on one.
The people in the midwestern hotel – dressed in biker gang gear – are kind, holding the door for a gimpy dievca and asking how she is doing.
This place isn’t perfect by any means, but its mine.

The 4th of July parade was such a big deal in dievca’s hometown. People dressed up, bands played, Veterans marched.
Is it still like that in small towns?
NYC may have a parade…dievca is not sure. she’s never looked it up or gone to watch. What she really misses is the Beer and Bratwurst Tent that the Lions Club sponsored for the weekend – their bratwursts were pork.
(Is the corn knee-high by the 4th of July? If yes – its a good crop year)
In the evening of the 4th, you would sit almost under the fireworks offered at the local High School Soccer fields. It was social, yet – intimate. dievca felt like she was a part of the Earth and the Universe.
Something to ponder.
So, dievca’s hometown did host a parade and fireworks this year, but the Brat Tent is on hold until 2022…

Getting the Party Started! (a slideshow)
dievca had the unexpected pleasure of looking out of her window to see two Macy’s barges offering a personal Fireworks display. she and Master had a conversation about the fireworks just that afternoon – Master thought they would cancel it all. dievca thought that the fireworks needed to be used and wasn’t sure of a solution.
Apparently, the Macy’s barges will be offering fireworks around the city along the Hudson and East Rivers (Harlem River?) in smaller and more personal displays. An absolutely lovely and elegant solution for limiting the crowds, yet still bringing Joy to NYC.
