Tensile Strength in Spring Design
In compression spring design the spring’s resistance to being compressed is its “compressive strength,” while its “tensile strength” is its resistance to breaking due to stress. In extension spring design, tensile strength would be measured by the spring materials resistance to being pulled apart.
Balancing Cost and Tensile Strength
No matter how much stress is applied to springs in your application, its tensile strength is integral to maintaining functionality as well as increasing the life expectancy of your springs. The longer your springs last, the more cost-effective they ultimately are.
The other factor involved in spring cost is weight savings. The less amount of material used in the spring, the less it will cost. By minimizing the materials used and maximizing their efficiency and tensile strength, spring designers can create the most efficient spring design.

A 'Thank You' to the Yost Superior Company.
Years ago, dievca was in Milan for work and she was wearing a great pair of brown leather embossed crocodile boots. As dievca was rushing to an event, the heel got stuck in a walkway grate and ripped the back the boot off. Made for a really messy day – duct tape to the rescue…
dievca loved those boots.
she’s been looking for brown Croco boots ever since.
Finally, 17 years later:
THE CORSA CONCAVO
Note that the heel is not slim – dievca’s not getting stuck in a grate this time around!
The brand is M.Gemi and the cost is dear, but dievca is willing to spend the extra money for a pair that is going to replace two pairs in her closet (resale).
Here’s another version of the boot in case you need black:
Years ago, dievca wore Uggs. They were toasty and warm, but perhaps didn’t have the best “look”. The multi-colored zipper was interesting, though.
She moved on to a pair of shearling/suede high tops that were made in Turkey and “off brand”. They were amazing, until they finally disintegrated. She went on the quest for something similar and failed.
She found a pair of Ganni Masha Texas shearling Boots on eBay, but they were just that bit too small and not really warm, so she sold them.
Yes, the Canadian Cougar Pillow Boot are still in rotation and still amazing/useful, but dievca likes to have a lower profile boot in rotation for easy slip-on, without the red interior.
Which brings us to the surprise boot. Something dievca bought for $99 at an end-of-season sale, last Spring. The move was a desperate attempt to replace those shearling high tops. These boots sat in her closet all Summer and she was going to sell them because she thought they looked “clunky”, until a cold day called for a quick slip-on with a low profile.
The Technica Monaco Shearling Moon Boot have become a staple and the compliments received have been in large numbers. It’s crazy. All because of a spontaneous buy of a sales item that dievca wasn’t sure about keeping:
If you are interested in a pair, they have them at MyTheresa, just click here. But, dievca hates to tell you…they are full price. ($214)
Master asked what dievca wanted for the Holidays~
Now dievca is answering beyond “you”.
Make a statement in Aquazzura‘s red crocodile-effect leather Brera boots. This bright pair hits just below the knee – a key style for the season – and features a round toe and a mid-high heel. Let them stand out alongside muted hues.
Damn…that calf diameter is too small for dievca – Sigh. Maybe Master would consider this instead:
Boots (and shoes) are a sexy,
statement weaving addition to your lingerie choices.
Consider them carefully.

Nancy Sinatra had it right, find the right boots that are made for walking the City (or beyond).
Master always says that NYC Women depend on their boots heavily to get them through the City. dievca’s sorting through her boots and making some decisions, she’ll be sharing what she is looking at her soon! XO
