Cleaning the closet for Master: “The Basics Ma’am, just the Basics”

she just went through Master’s Closet this past Monday, 2023.
The sorting/clear out is not an annual activity, but every two to three years.
The process consists of emptying everything out of the closet and drawers. Taking a good look at each piece and sorting into a keep pile, repair pile, rag pile and Goodwill pile. Master loves to get rid of items. Then there is the painful process of buying replacement items either online or in person.
dievca steps in with the second part of the process because Master tends to avoid shopping for replacement items. But if you have tossed 3 faded/stained black t-shirts that you wear on repeat – you will need to replace them.
So, a large Nordstrom’s credit dictated the shopping destination for this year. Instead of Barneys and Banana Republic t-shirts, Master will be trying Vince, Rag & Bone and Frame Denim. Apparently, dievca will be watching a fashion show of “the basics” the next time they meet.

Master has friends and family coming for visits this Autumn, so dievca went over to help him do a “deep clean” for their arrival. Windows washed inside and out, Floors wiped, Heavy duty dusting, Leather conditioned, Granite conditioned, Bathrooms scrubbed, etc. — Master’s apartment is GLEAMING!

Something of use – the “QUICKIE”

“Your sure are smart, but you sure a dumb.” was a phrase that her Dad used on occasion. Please don’t think it was meant meanly, it was just social commentary. dievca was in LaLa Land growing up – a bookworm and science geek. She was “test” smart. Common sense didn’t arrive until later – and despite dievca’s fierce practical streak, sometimes common sense disappears to this day.
dievca has always vacuumed her hardwood floors, lugging out the vacuum from where she hides it in the deep of a closet.
Her friends stayed in the apartment for two weeks and they find a microfiber sweeper in dievca’s washer/dryer closet.
dievca’s life is transformed.
She knew the previous renters left this flexible static duster:
It’s good for ceilings, top of the refrigerator, and that’s about it…(yes, she tried it on the floor – disaster, too flexible)
Because her friends couldn’t find the hidden vacuum, they found SOMETHING of USE!

dievca felt like an a** because she had no clue she had this available for 2+ years. It’s making her Life so much easier. The dust from NYC is easier to collect and the vacuum doesn’t have to make an appearance as frequently. Plus, the microfiber pad washes like a dream and is easier to put on and remove.

Clear Eye’s – Sunny Skies (something of use)

Do you remember being a kid with dirty glasses?
dievca does.
Then she smartened up in High School and started using dish soap to wash her eyeglasses.
Finding a sink and soap is not very convenient on the fly – so dievca moved on to lens wipes.
Too bad they aren’t environmentally friendly…

Something of use that lessens the environmental impact, isn’t as messy as soap/water, can be carried in a bag and offers the cleanest vision dievca has found:
Wal-Mart’s Equate Lens Cleaner at $2.88.
This brand is dievca’s favorite. The solution is good for glasses, camera lenses, phone screens/lenses, computer screens, etc. – all at an excellent price.
An 8 oz. bottle lasted dievca about a year with a clean rag/towel doing the wiping.
Argh – dievca is out~
dievca will have to make a trip to New Jersey to visit a Wal-Mart…there’s none in Manhattan.

dievca was walking by one of the corporate headquarter buildings in NYC: (SAP, L’Oreal, BCG, plus Tapestry – the new Coach, Kate Spade, Stuart Weitzman umbrella group, etc.) and spotted them cleaning the interior windows with a boom lift.
Pretty cool.
Wonder where they store the lift after usage ~

Feeling Fresh

A friend, from north of the border, gives dievca a bag of goodies every Christmas. One year she included a couple of Herban Essentials Lavender Wipe packets in the mix. Now, dievca hates the smell of lavender — but those wipes? Absolutely fantastic!
They are the perfect thing to use when heading to Master’s place from work. Convenient, good size, effective, strong, etc. dievca cuts them with water for personal usage if needed. (Otherwise, peppermint can be a leeeetle touchy….) The essential oils are antibacterial, antiseptic and therapeutic.
For thousands of years essential oils have been used to promote physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual well-being.
dievca decided that the orange essential oil has the best smell (lemon comes in second!), but she loves citrus. Very uplifting and invigorating.
