WARM COFFEE A NECESSITY AFTER THE BIKE RIDE TO WORK!

A squall~

NYC had a Snow Squall yesterday.

What is a snow squall? According to the National Weather Service, a snow squall is “an intense short-lived burst of heavy snowfall that leads to a quick reduction in visibilities and is often accompanied by gusty winds.”

Why are they more dangerous than blizzards?  Driving in a snow storm is difficult. Add in blowing wind and poor visibility, and travel can become downright dangerous. Driving in a snow squall is next to impossible.

The Squall was about 10 minutes long and dievca missed it all – she was working.  But, she was dressed appropriately against the heavy winds for the bike ride to and from work (click on photos for details):

Can I just call it the Crabby (Hangry) Moon?

Winter full moon Andrew Mayovskyy ShutterstocFebruary’s full moon is commonly referred to as the Snow Moon because the moth of February is often the snowiest month in the United States, as well as other parts of the northern hemisphere.

In the UK, the full moon will grace the skies at 4.56 pm on Wednesday 16 February. This will be 11:57 am EST – so the USA should look for the Moon set early tomorrrow morning or the Moonrise tonight or tomorrow.

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) explained: “The Maine Farmer’s Almanac first published Indian names for the full moons in the 1930’s, and according to this almanac, this was known as the Snow moon because of the heavy snows that fall in this season.”

Traditionally, the February full moon was referred to as the Hunger Moon, because hunting was very difficult in snowy conditions and food scarcity was faced.  Brutal weather conditions during February severely impacted the ability of Native American tribes to hunt.

Bone Moon was another reference, as there was typically a shortage of food, with people gnawing on bones and eating bone marrow soup to get by.

Let’s see ~ snow + cold + lack of food.
Sounds like someone is HANGRY at this point.
Time to change the name.

Feeling Fuzzy (in response to the wind)

dievca sold her Faux Fur coats the other year and (of course!) shearling faux and real are back in Fashion.

Four Options (guess which one dievca is trying):

  • Bottega Veneta Green Shearling Hooded Coat ($8900)
  • Bottega Veneta Aqua Shearling Coat ($8900)
  • Proenza Schouler White Label Green Faux Fur Wrap Coat ($895)
  • Yves Salomon Blue Faux Fur Wool Mateo Button Down Coat (on sale $450)

If you guess the blue button down coat (Yves Salomon) you are correct. At 5″4′ and curvy – those wrap coats will overwhelm dievca’s frame – though she loves the look desperately…  For dievca, wrap dresses and coats are like wearing yellow or raglan sleeves – just DON’T do it!

Skating (reprise)

Skating Sweep—IN the frosty season, when the sun
Was set, and, visible for many a mile,
The cottage windows through the twilight blazed,
I heeded not the summons: happy time
It was indeed for all of us; for me
It was a time of rapture. Clear and loud
The village clock tolled six. I wheel’d about,
Proud and exulting, like an untired horse
That cares not for its home. All shod with steel,
We hiss’d along the polish’d ice in games
Confederate, imitative of the chase
And woodland pleasures,—the resounding horn,
The pack loud-bellowing, and the hunted hare.
So through the darkness and the cold we flew,
And not a voice was idle: with the din
Meanwhile the precipices rang aloud;
The leafless trees and every icy crag
Tingled like iron; while the distant hills
Into the tumult sent an alien sound
Of melancholy, not unnoticed, while the stars,
Eastward, were sparkling clear, and in the west
The orange sky of evening died away.

Not seldom from the uproar I retired
Into a silent bay, or sportively
Glanced sideway, leaving the tumultuous throng,
To cut across the image of a star
That gleam’d upon the ice; and oftentimes,
When we had given our bodies to the wind,
And all the shadowy banks on either side
Came sweeping through the darkness, spinning still
The rapid line of motion, then at once
Have I, reclining back upon my heels,
Stopp’d short; yet still the solitary cliffs
Wheel’d by me, even as if the earth had roll’d
With visible motion her diurnal round.
Behind me did they stretch in solemn train,
Feebler and feebler, and I stood and watch’d
Till all was tranquil as a summer sea.

Can’t visit the Midwest without shoveling~

In this case, ice.

It was sleet, then fluffy snow, then hail, then sleet, ending up rain which froze on the driveway.

dievca just happened be wearing the appropriate coat to handle all of the choices Mother Nature decided to share – a recent purchase to take the place of three down coats:

It dried and puffed up nicely in the dryer and was ready for snow blowing 4-inches the following morning.

Gardening or snow removal – dievca’s available for hire. 🙄

You can take the dievca out

of the Midwest, but you can’t take the Midwest out of the dievca.

Not glamorous, but of use

Photo: dievca’s view 2019

So, let dievca tell you about having floor to ceiling windows: amazing views all the time, plus warmth when the sun is shining.

Aunt Marty’s Nose Warmer Amazon

In the winter, the windows get cold when the sun doesn’t shine, so when one of the HVAC units goes kaput and maintenance needs to order a whole new unit– it gets chilly in the evenings and on poor weather days.

dievca is layering up with clothing and blankets, but she refuses to wear a ‘nose warmer’. dievca will stoop to wearing wool Mukluk Slippers.

Remember those? Wool knit top with a leather patch bottom? dievca’s first pair were from Pier One, then she wore holes in her Aunt’s pair – had them ‘repaired’ with patches of leather and is onto her 3rd pair.

These mukluks are not for Presenting, but they solve the problem of cold feet.
Which comes under the definition ‘something of use’ in dievca’s book.

Hippieshop.com Wool Mukluk Slippers $16.95 (click this photo for the website)

And, yes, dievca’s nose is still cold.
Cold nose warm heart.

It was a ‘yes’!

NYC weather took a 27 degree (F) drop from 55F to 28F (13C to -2C). dievca pulled out her soft fuzzy Japanese Cashmere Sweater by Side Slope and wore it to Master’s apartment. BDSM play was not the focus of the meet,  but a moment to touch and chat on the bed inspired dievca to strip everything off except the sweater.

The sweater was long enough to cover her pussy and offered hints of curves and nipples.
Soft enough for cuddling and sensation play.

It was a hit!

Peek-a-boo fuzziness and fun spilled into a strong D/s finish.
The final action answered dievca’s question on the original Fuzzy Sweater Post.

does Cosy/Snuggly = Sexy?

Master said, ‘yes’!

dievca is Jealous…

Master hopped a flight to ski with his son….they will have new snow for tomorrow.

Meanwhile, diecva dealt with this:

A bundled up rider crosses by the BU Bridge (Photo by David L. Ryan/The Boston Globe via Getty Images)

NYC: Monday’s high temperature topped out around 14 degrees, with wind chill values between minus 5 and minus 10. A wind advisory for the five boroughs was set to expire at 7 p.m., the weather service said.

(-10 F =-23.3 C)

she looked like this –>

The answer to a pressing question~

My ass, nose and boobs are cold…
Why?

The more subcutaneous fat an area has, the lower the skin temperature — which is the key to explaining why women, with two forward prominences and a larger posterior, get chilly. More fat in an area = colder skin.
(More muscle in the bottom means more blood flowing and the ability to keep an area warmer…)

So when your female partner backs her cold bottom in while spooning, know that it is a part of the female development and women have an overall external body temperature which is slightly lower than that of men. Plus, the temperature is even lower over protruding or curved body parts such as the nose and fingers.

dievca finds that a toasty fire, warm stove, hot shower or Master’s body furnace helps…

(Written while sitting on a hot water bottle.)

The first snow of 2018 and something of use.

Yes, dievca knows that there was snow in January and February 2018 – but there was snow already on the ground from 2017….

This is the first snow of Autumn.

It’s now become a wet rain/sleet mix – a mess. Walking to work and home entails carrying items in the mess and dievca isn’t known for remembering umbrellas. Her suggestion for getting by is a water-resistant backpack. And the gold standard, by far, has been her Patagonia Black Hole 26L Pack.
she has two colors:

Paintbrush

Beryl Green

Let’s just say if you are going to give up space in a NYC apartment for a second water-resistant backpack…it better be good.

(Now, dievca understands the true space-saving way would be to have just one black water-resistant backpack – but the colored ones act as reflective colors on the bike or walking. Duality.)

Click photo to buy the backpack!

What a Bombogenesis looks like~

Explosive cyclogenesis (also called a weather bomb, meteorological bomb, explosive development, or bombogenesis) refers in a strict sense to a rapidly deepening extratropical cyclonic low-pressure area.

“Bomb cyclones” or “weather bombs” are wicked winter storms that can rival the strength of hurricanes and are so-called because of the process that creates them: bombogenesis. It’s a mouthful of a meteorology term that refers to a storm (generally a non-tropical one) that intensifies very rapidly.

Can you get a cold upon a cold? Yes.  Does it make you sound sexy? Not Really.
Should you get out of the apartment during a snowstorm? Yes.
Should you shovel? No.

Yesterday, dievca woke up to a little bit of snow. In her Midwestern Winter superior tones she texted Master who was in charge of shoveling an elderly friend’s stoop/sidewalk to say, “These sissy NY-ers, they get all wound up about a little snow!”

Later in the morning dievca walked to work:

It ended up a pretty good snowstorm! 10th Ave with the new construction was a Wind Tunnel.
And dievca was happy she wasn’t around to help Master shovel. she did her duty at her Parent’s house the week before. Good news, Master didn’t throw His back out. XO
