Retro Dinner Party

After work today, dievca is hosting a casual dinner party for friends – all of whom are vaccinated.
she’s out of practice….
but its a simple go with ordering-in burgers from Whitman’s, offering a Junior’s Cheesecake + wine/beer..
Nice to be a bit normal, again.

Anyone else hosting an event?

Getting it together…Dinner for 8

Master is traveling to family for the Holidays.
dievca is staying in NYC.
she proposed a Christmas dinner to some friends
and they took her up in it!
It looks like those Christmas decorations do need to be put up.
Whee!

Chinti and Parker ‘Winterlust’ Sweater

dievca might have to wear her version of an ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater’.
This is as close as she gets….something a smidgen cheesy.

Something of Use from 30 years ago~

As dievca is pulling items out for a Christmas Dinner with friends, she realized that this
Crate & Barrel serving platter has been in her life for about 30 years. It’s a piece that has a lot of mileage on it and still looks lovely.  The bonus is that the removable dip container can be refilled without moving the whole server and it cleans up easily.

Do you use or need something similar?

dievca was curious if Crate & Barrel still offered this item — No.

she saw it on resale sites (apparently others did not find it as useful or broke the dip holder…)

The closest items she found on the Crate & Barrel website and in stores are:

Crate & Barrel Classic White Chip and Dip Server (click on photo to purchase)

Dip piece is attached….no ease of refilling. Dishwasher safe, though.

Crate & Barrel Tondo wood chip and dip server (click photo to purchase)

Close, but that dip bowl will move around as people use it.

Crate & Barrel Two-piece glass chip and dip server (click photo to purchase)

Lovely – but glass?  dievca would break something within the next 30 years.

So, it looks like dievca will stay with her old favorite! 😉

Yellow Dress ~

The Pork Chops were fabulous, the wine-fantastic, appetizers-excellent, green beans-good, rice-poor, lemon meringue pie-a disaster….Me? I was an excellent Hostess. I even offered 15 minutes of Fireworks on the Hudson River for entertainment! It took the attention off dessert – Thank goodness.

Full Blown fireworks from Hoboken…why? I have no idea. Fashion Week? Maybe.

What did I wear for the Dinner Party?
Street Style NYC Fashion Week

Sissel Eldebo Waterlily Frill Dress, Danish Design.
They source the silk from India, it is mostly leftover Sari silk. If they can only make five dresses, they make five dresses.

I wore my “one of a kind” dress with the matching thin fabric belt tied at the waist.

My pattern and the Target sandals I wore:

Mustard Yellow with pattern was the way I could finally get my Yellow Dress.  You know, the one I have been desperately longing for~.  A floaty silk dress which I hope Master tosses the skirt up when I wear it for him. It billows.
