dievca has 6 pairs of boots sitting on the kitchen table sorted for resale. They are favorite boots that were a size 7-7.5, she now needs a size 8 to hold her right foot.
Here’s what is leaving – you’ve seen these on the blog (roll over the photos to see the brands):
dievca had success on eBay finding the Rodeo Brava Motorcycle Boots in the next size ($40), she’s eye-balling the Roberto del Carlo blue suede boots on eBay, two sizes up – nib.
she’d like to get a pair of cowboy boots and the red ones above caught her eye, they are the Free People New Frontiers Western Boots in red $148. she thought they would make Master laugh. He is always entertained by dievca’s boots.
But dievca cannot justify buying those cute red boots because she owns these Chloe Rylee Python Booties in red:

~Something of Use~
Update – the bag sold on August 2nd…sorry, dievca was too slow…
- Dries van Noten Teal Crocodile Derby’s $890 for $366 (now $240 – size 38 run more like an 8.5)
- Dries van Noten Snakeskin Platform Sandals $885 for $646 (sold out elsewhere)
- Laura Manoogian Brown Bow Pants $350 for $249 (Cheaper elsewhere, but the size was too large for dievca)
The Derby’s were too large, so they had to be returned. The pants will be worn in the Winter – they are a heavy knit.
The Sandals are being worn on this trip with:
- Eddie Bauer White Jeans $80 for $55
- Dries van Noten Floral Tee Shirt eBay $80
The customs re-imbursement bought:
- Dries van Noten purple knit bra and briefs $220 for $114 and $280 for $109
- Acne Studios Star Bag $250 for $98
- Pearls Before Swine Simple Silver Ring Set $250 for $137
Now, before you pass judgement on the amount spent…remember that dievca sold items this month at Buffalo Exchange for $300, the RealReal for $1250, and has 6 items out to Decades in LA. Plus two items have sold on eBay during dievca’s travels = $200.
$1488 bought, $1750 sold + with more listed.
And if you are interested – Master thinks dievca’s machinations for reducing and rebuilding her closet are hilarious.

dievca is an “eBayer” – she buys and sells. But with her Parents taking more of her time, dievca’s eBay listing practices have diminished. The “to be sold” items were piling up.
It took dievca more than two years to wrap her head around the idea of calling in an “online” consignment service to list her pile of stuff. This decision occurred immediately after selling a Hermes scarf for $350. That scarf sat on eBay for about 3+ years, 5 lowball bids, one sob story…
dievca doesn’t have the time to list items, cancel poor offers and she cannot keep the bigger items around until they sell. A silk scarf is one thing, but a leather jacket is another~
Stepping away from being in charge of her item’s presentation and setting the listing prices was tough for dievca. she had to mentally change her goal of getting the largest amount of money – to recycling items and clearing the closets.
It’s SPRING – time to clean.
At 9 am, a lovely lady came to dievca’s apartment and sorted through as many high-end items as dievca could find to sell.
Fendi, Missoni, Lanvin, Alaia, Moschino, Simone Rocha, Miu Miu, Sonia Rykiel, Michael Kors, Celine, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Manolo Blahnik, Repetto, Vivienne Westwood, Dries van Notan, Norma Kamali, etc.
After two hours, good conversation and coffee – 42 items left dievca’s apartment to be sold.
Cross fingers on the pricing…
Here’s the remnants:
dievca decided she is not going be a voyeur and watch what the items sell for ~ its too much. Whatever $ she gets, she gets.
The “leftover” pile has become one small bag of items to be listed on eBay – a much more manageable amount. Already a bag of mid-tier items was sold at Buffalo Exchange. There are pieces set aside for friends and the rest will be donated to Goodwill/ Housing Works.
All told, dievca got rid of about 90+ items.
And she’s not looking back!
Because of this:
dievca wears this, daily:
It’s not fashionable, it’s not elegant, but it helps dievca feel safer as she is shooting through the line-up of Dump Trucks, flatbeds of Steel and general chaos on the ride to work.
dievca’s only objective it to be seen, so she avoids this:
dievca’s worn the backpack so much that it has become dirty and faded, so she lurked on eBay to buy another one in the same color. Success! Sometimes your random spur-of-the moment purchases become the ones you live and avoid dying by….

It can be 90F (32C) with high humidity, but if its the end of September, dievca is looking at coats and sweaters (jumpers) for a closet refresh.
Mind you, she has more than enough and she is trying to streamline her closets…
Here’s what happened so far~
dievca sold these items:
To buy this:
Now, please realize that she still has these:
But she is still looking at these:
Actually it has been really good to write this post…and the desire to buy a new sweater for the year has just diminished immensely. Thank you!
How is your closet looking for the Autumn?
Any cool sweaters/jumpers or coats? XO
dievca mentioned that she has been obsessed with Velvet this year…right? Awhile ago, she compiled a list of “Vintage Velvet” items on eBay and thought you might like to have a look. Some of items have been sold, but many are still available. Click on the links below the photos and let dievca know what you like or don’t like.

dievca was looking for an inexpensive round leather crossbody bag for the Winter. she did a quick search on eBay and found a vintage Ralph Lauren Bag with an o-ring clasp. A detail that struck a chord with her desire to show her submissive side. There were a couple of other colors available, too.
If you are not sold on the more “structured” round leather crossbody bag, dievca ran into these pieces on eBay, too.
Sometimes you have things in your closet that you don’t touch for years.
Sometimes you have things in your closet you wear so often that you search eBay for a “less worn out” version than yours.
dievca found replacements for two dresses this summer:
A Garnet Hill Starlet dress with cherries on it. (bottom photo)
A Plenty by Tracy Reese Blue Macrame Dress:
You may be asking, “Why did dievca have to buy a 2nd dress?” The fabric is made to fade in the wash and become a light denim color. dievca wore and washed the original dress so much that it became white in the macrame section. Someone at Goodwill may be wearing the dress with the white on it. dievca will be more gentle this time.
Everything dievca has put on by Tracy Reese has been fabulously easy to wear. The designer, originally from Detroit, MI has a certain feminine look.
Tracy Reese designs are noted for their femininity and retro-influenced style; the textiles themselves make use of bright colors, elaborate graphic patterns, and a playful use of bohemian touches.
dievca needed a “go to” outfit for the end of the day and it needed to have a light coat, plus be packed in a backpack.
The Macrame knit dress was a “keeper” and dievca added:
Hair curly and in a French Roll. Almay Khaki Eyeliner, Tarte Cheek Stain, Nude Lips.
PS: Just a FYI~ Here’s the second dress dievca replaced with an eBay purchase. She wears it with black Teva flip-flops, or Clark green leather flip-flops. The first dress faded and ended up with piling (after 3+ years of washing).
A friend was in Washington DC at the Hirshhorn Museum and sent a text photo of this installation
(this photo is from the Tate):
Here is a nice description (click here)
Why did dievca’s friend send this?
dievca is a bit of a clothes horse (Shocker!) and as Master is a minimalist Bhuddhist, hence, she has been trying to whittle her closet. Did dievca mention that she is a passionate recycler, as well? Thank Goodness for eBay, Decades, Buffalo Exchange, Housing Works and Goodwill.
The photo and the thought still made her laugh.
Sometimes your friends really know you, huh?
dievca goes in phases: lurking on eBay and not lurking on eBay.
From the selling standpoint, eBay hasn’t been as fun as it used to be in the past. Customers think that they are shopping at a store, wanting coupons, free shipping, etc. — they forget you are just one person cleaning out your closet. The goal is to get rid of items, not accept returns back because the buyer decided that they didn’t like the color of a dress.
From the purchasing standpoint, dievca is still able to buy hard-to-find items and keep an eye on brands that fit well or are classics. she keeps in mind that eBay is a garage sale and is relaxed about timelines, shipping, perfections/imperfections.
One search term that dievca will use on eBay is “Barneys CO-OP”. dievca is no longer so interested in going to the Barneys stores with Simon Doonan being less present, the Chelsea store closing, the Warehouse Sale going online and the CO-OP disappearing. The feeling at the UWS store is just…..different. Colder, less hip.
That said, some of dievca’s eBay “Barneys CO-OP” finds have been good. Daryl K dresses, Marc Jacobs backpacks, Nicole B. bracelets and Wendy Mink earrings.
Right up dievca’s alley.
