And so it goes~ Gala Night

The Moon was rising over Manhattan when dievca set out to the show and the Gala:

she opted to wear:

dievca doesn’t know if the COVID epidemic caused her to go back to her Generation X roots of being a “loner”, perimenopause is causing her to get tired/irritated or starting work at 6 am put her over the edge by 10:00 pm – after 3 hours she wanted out. So, she left after the meal, before the awards, to hike up her skirt and bike her a** home.

feeling a little 80’s – right now

Master laughs at His dievca’s penchant for 80’s synthesizer hits.  What can she say? she’s an 80’s Throwback – a product of Generation X:

  • They’re Expert DIY-ers. …
  • Their Sartorial Style Is Decidedly Dressed-Down. …
  • They’ve Got the Whole Work-Life Balance Thing Down Pat. …
  • They Tech-Savvy… But Not Tech-Dependent. …
  • They’re Fiercely Independent.
  • They’re Fiercely Attached To Their Music AND Don’t Really Care If You Like It Or Not.

Lyrics:

You saw me standing by the wall corner of a main street
And the lights are flashing on your window sill
All alone ain’t much fun so you’re looking for the thrill
And you know just what it takes and where to go

Don’t save a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after
No don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after

Feel the breeze deep on the inside look you down into the well
If you can you’ll see the world in all his fire
Take a chance like all dreamers can’t find another way
You don’t have to dream it all, just live a day

Don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after
No don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after

Pretty looking road I try to hold the rising floods that fill my skin
Don’t ask me why I’ll keep my promise I’ll melt the ice
And you wanted to dance so I asked you to dance
But fear is in your soul
Some people call it a one night stand but we can call it paradise

Don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it til the morning after
No don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after (doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)
Save a prayer ’til the morning after
Save a prayer ’til the morning after
Save a prayer ’til the morning after
Save a prayer ’til the morning after
Save a prayer ’til the morning after
Save a prayer ’til the morning after

A Slice of Sunshine~

The Elder Statesman Morph Stripe 100% Cashmere sweater and shorts

dievca was musing to Master about how she hasn’t hit the drama point others are experiencing with COVID-19. (The Millenials, Generation Z, and the Boomers.) Granted, she is working and going in to work. Work is relatively safe, but she does interact with people, etc.

Time at home meant she has had the opportunity to work on her injuries, clear out her Mom’s house and her space, resell or donate a number of items. dievca hasn’t minded sitting around watching a movie, reading a book, or taking the time to cook. she doesn’t feel the need to socialize and wandering the empty City is a treat.

After talking to a friend about feeling guilty for enjoying the time to regroup – the friend looked at dievca and said,
“Generation X is made for quarantine.”

Oh, yeah.
Spending time alone at home – no problem.
Not being able to go places – no problem.
Creating odd meals from a low stock pantry – no problem.
Avoiding others – no problem (Stranger Danger & Just say, “No”)
Not traveling – no problem
Maneuvering to get things done – no problem

And the chance to wear a cozy rainbow morph outfit in a sunny apartment? Heaven.

LMAO – “OK, Boomer!”

We had a little conversation (a 12 yr old and dievca)….
and the phrase “OK, Boomer” came into play~

dievca is NOT a boomer…(Master is~)

As of July 1, 2019 (the latest date for which population estimates are available), Millennials, whom we define as ages 23 to 38 in 2019, numbered 72.1 million, and Boomers (ages 55 to 73) numbered 71.6 million. The two groups sandwich and overwhelm the middle child, Generation X.

dievca is a slacker….Hello….Generation X.
Don’t f*ck with her.
She’s a bit cynical (actually more of a realist), does not need validation, and slides by quietly to get things done.

Parental lineage
Generally, Gen Xers are the children of the Silent Generation and older baby boomers.
dievca’s parents were of the Silent Generation.

Anyways, the comment sparked a conversation that made dievca laugh like hell.  Kids are fantastic with serving up a dose of reality.  dievca couldn’t decide if she was more offended by being called a “Boomer” or her personal reaction to being called one! (Sorry Boomers…😘)

“This old thing?”

Midwestern weather in February calls for winter dressing.

dievca dug into her closet and came up with older items that still generated a couple of compliments.
she was astounded.

A whole discussion on fashion and Bricks & Mortar VS. Online Shopping occurred in an airport restaurant because of her coat. The discussion continued because her flight seatmate worked for ShopBop.

Two adorable Millennials noticing the exhausted Generation X-er’s style – a shocker.
Who said that women over 50 are marginalized?
