We had a little conversation (a 12 yr old and dievca)….
and the phrase “OK, Boomer” came into play~
dievca is NOT a boomer…(Master is~)
As of July 1, 2019 (the latest date for which population estimates are available), Millennials, whom we define as ages 23 to 38 in 2019, numbered 72.1 million, and Boomers (ages 55 to 73) numbered 71.6 million. The two groups sandwich and overwhelm the middle child, Generation X.
dievca is a slacker….Hello….Generation X.
Don’t f*ck with her.
She’s a bit cynical (actually more of a realist), does not need validation, and slides by quietly to get things done.
Which Generation are You?
|The Lost Generation
The Generation of 1914
|The Interbellum Generation||1901||1913||108||120|
|The Greatest Generation||1910||1924||97||111|
|The Silent Generation||1925||1945||76||96|
|Baby Boomer Generation||1946||1964||57||75|
|Generation X (Baby Bust)||1965||1979||42||56|
Generation Y, Gen Next
|iGen / Gen Z||1995||2012||9||26|
Generally, Gen Xers are the children of the Silent Generation and older baby boomers.
dievca’s parents were of the Silent Generation.
Anyways, the comment sparked a conversation that made dievca laugh like hell. Kids are fantastic with serving up a dose of reality. dievca couldn’t decide if she was more offended by being called a “Boomer” or her personal reaction to being called one! (Sorry Boomers…😘)
Peng. New Word Suggestion. Used to describe anything of exceptional quality, including people. Means ‘fit’ or ‘hot’ or ‘good-looking’
Peng was used to describe high quality weed. It then became to mean someone who is really good-looking. A lot of the London slang words are Jamaican in origin. They become popular through music and black Londoners links with the Caribbean.
Where it appeared for dievca:
How would you sum up the collection?
dievca had to look up the word ‘peng’ when she saw it describing a new collection offered by ASOS, developed by Generation Z humans for themselves with creativity and equality (race, gender, body image, sexuality, disabilities) in mind via the ‘revolving’ team (a new group of 6 people driving each collection) . Whew! Can you keep up?
Taking into consideration the results of extensive research into the non-negotiable values of Gen Z, the brand’s price point starts at £5, the pieces are intended for all genders, sizes are available up to a 6XL, and the collection is animal-free. Each season, a new lineup of diverse creatives will collaborate to create a collection that not only speaks to, but is for, everyone.
Here’s Generation Z (mid 1990’s to mid 2000’s birth years):
What is the brand called? COLLUSION….which is an interesting word choice in of itself:
secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others
Hmmmm, not so altruistic….
showing a disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others; unselfish
OK, too many new words and the brand didn’t do its due diligence – let’s move on. dievca normally runs into Forever 21 or H&M for an update on what the kids are into clothing-wise. she understands that it is fast fashion and cheap, but it does take the pulse of the younger generations.
Brandy Melville was her latest go in the Summer — she laughed to find out that many 12 years olds have the same Jessica sweater as her.
The old girl is HIP!
(Do kids even know what ‘hip’ means anymore?)
Anyways, after sending a huge suitcase of clothes to Europe with her friend (for 4 people) and selling 5 items on eBay for $1000, plus having more things to list and 6 bags going to resale next week…whew…dievca decided to treat herself and splurge $158.00 on a few Collusion items. They may look like absolute crap when she gets them, but it made her feel young and peng for a moment:
Somehow she doesn’t think Master is going to go for any of it as Presentation Outfits, but it might make Him chuckle. XO
