Going Bananas 🍌 It started with Josephine

On June 3, 1906, Josephine Baker was born Freda Josephine McDonald in the slums of St. Louis. Growing up, she cleaned houses and babysat for the wealthy. At the age of 15, Baker was recruited for the St. Louis Chorus vaudeville show; from there, she went to Harlem where she performed in musicals. Eventually, she landed a gig in France as part of an all-black revue, at a salary of $1,000 a month; she emigrated in 1925.
It was the summer of 1926 at the Folies Bergère in Paris. Hordes of white Parisians flocked to the famed theater to see La Revue Nègre, a musical show that emerged from France due to the country’s fascination with jazz culture. And there, wearing little more than strings of pearls, wrist cuffs, and a skirt made of 16 rubber bananas, Josephine Baker descended from a palm tree onstage, and began to dance. This dance—the danse sauvage—is what established her as the biggest black female star in the world.
During World War II, Baker aided the French Resistance by smuggling secret messages in invisible ink on her musical sheets. She hid Jewish refugees and weapons in her château that Bakerskin (her line of skin darkening and hair slicking products) had helped pay for. In 1963, she was, notably, the only official female speaker to give an address at the March on Washington. She received the Croix de Guerre, the Médaille de la Résistance, and Légion d’Honneur. After she died on April 12, 1975, more than 20,000 people crowded the streets of Paris to watch the funeral procession on its way to L’Église de la Madeleine. The French government honored her with a 21-gun salute, making Josephine Baker the first American woman buried in France with full military honors.
In August 2021, it was announced that Josephine Baker is set to become the first Black woman to have her remains reburied in the Panthéon monument in Paris — one of the highest honors in France. French president Emmanuel Macron made the announcement writing that Baker “held high the motto of the French Republic.”
Fashion-wise – offstage, Josephine’s style was developed by Paul Poiret and Madeleine Vionnet, two of the leading couturiers in the ’20s. Her alluring choices have been seen more recent when Beyoncé paid homage to Baker by wearing a banana skirt in her 2006 Fashion Rocks performance. Miley Cyrus following in 2014.
At the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards, when Rihanna wore a sheer Baker-inspired dress. The Spring 2011 Prada collection and the 2016 Marc Jacobs’s Fall runway notably referenced Baker’s signature gelled hair.
Or, perhaps, Charlotte Olympia’s Banana Pumps are enough quirk to honor Josephine!

Look for the Moon! What does it all mean?
Posted: October 31, 2020 Filed under: Analysis, Entertainment | Tags: Autumn, BDSM, Blue Moon, D/s, dievca, Full Moon, Halloween, retro, submissve 3 Comments
Jane Greer Full Moon.
Hunter’s Moon, Beaver Moon, Blue Moon, Micro Moon, or Frost, Frosty, Snow Moon. Sharad Purnima; and the Thadingyut, Hpaung Daw U, and Low Krathong Festival Moon. This All Hallows Eve Moon will appear “opposite” the Sun (in Earth-based longitude) at 10:49 AM EDT and will appear Full through Sunday evening.
Thoughts from around the web on what this Blue Moon on Halloween means:
“Magically speaking, blue and full moons are amazing opportunities to release and heal,” This moon is a very fortunate time to mend our bodies, minds, and hearts.
“Full moons have always been seen as moments in time in which the astrological energy comes to a climax. Since this moon is happening on Halloween and while the Sun is in Scorpio, a sign that is closely connected to the spiritual world, this blue moon is an obvious invitation to get super witchy!” If you aren’t taking advantage of this lunar event and performing a witchy ritual around this time, you’re missing out on all of the mystical, fantastical, and enchanting energy in the air.
“This is one of the few times within the year that we can easily bridge the gap between both worlds. The blue moon will serve as an extra illumination on the metaphorical realm, as full moons expose matters on Earth due to its effervescent glow.”
Halloween will be the first blue moon visible in every time zone since 1944. Might be good to charge those crystals! The next full moon on Halloween that will be visible worldwide is expected in 2077, according to the Farmer’s Almanac.
“Full moons are a time when we get a little assistance seeing in the dark. It is a very significant full moon, and it is happening four days before the election and is sitting next to a planet with upheaval, change, surprise, excitement: Uranus.” It’s a good time to get rid of things we don’t need.
“I think that symbols — and a blue moon is a symbol — do have the potential to activate things in an individual and in the collective. It is a time when something rare can happen.”
For the moon to actually appear blue is a whole different matter. There has to be enough matter of a particular size kicked into the atmosphere that red light is scattered. The popular example of this is the 1883 eruption of the Indonesian volcano Krakatoa. According to NASA, the eruption was so large that for years afterwards, the moon appeared bluish and sometimes greenish. The volcanic ash particles were large enough to block out red wavelengths of light, while other wavelengths carried on as usual.
Full moons are a call for balance. The moon — symbolic of the divine feminine — sitting proudly across from the sun — a symbol of the sacred masculine and the greatest source of energy — is powerful beyond words. This is precisely why full moons are so climactic and revealing. This lunar phase never ceases to bring what’s hidden to light. and with the sun in Scorpio — symbolic of the underworld — opposing the moon in Taurus — a representation of Mother Earth — this lunation is speaking to the cycle of life and death.
To top it off, this full moon will also conjunct Uranus, at the exact same degree, so shocking is an understatement. The “Great Awakener,” and the planet of chaos, revolution, and unexpected change, it’s safe to say that the shocking revelations stemming from this full moon will make history. Just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it isn’t there, and this year’s full (blue) moon conjunct Uranus on All Hallows Eve will prove it.
Wishing you a HAPPY HALLOWEEN,
no matter what the FULL MOON brings~

Yvonne DeCarlo as a Kitty
In the cool of the evening
When everything is getting kind of groovy
You call me up and ask me
Would i like to go with you and see a movie?
First i say no, I’ve got some plans for tonight
And then i stop and say all right
Love is kind of crazy with a spooky little boy like you
You always keep me guessing
I never seem to know what you are thinking
And if a girl looks at you
It’s for sure your little eye will be a-winking
I get confused, i never know where i stand
And then you smile and hold my hand
Love is kind of crazy with a spooky little boy like you
Spooky
If you decide some day to stop this little game that you are a-playing
I’m gonna tell you all the things my heart’s been a-dying to be saying
Just like a ghost you’ve been a-haunting my dreams
But now i know you’re not what you seem
Love is kind of crazy with a spooky little boy like you
Spooky
Ahh, ahh, spooky, mmm, spooky, ahh, ahh, ahh, spooky, ooh, spooky
Ahh, aah, aah, spooky

The Cat and the Moon (poetry and lingerie)
Posted: October 15, 2020 Filed under: lingerie, Poetry | Tags: Autumn, BDSM, D/s, dievca, Halloween, pajamas, Presentation Outfits, Shein, Shopping, Undergarments, W.B. Yeats 5 CommentsTHE CAT AND THE MOON
by: W. B. Yeats (1865-1939)
HE cat went here and there
- And the moon spun round like a top,
- And the nearest kin of the moon,
- The creeping cat, looked up.
- Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,
- For, wander and wail as he would,
- The pure cold light in the sky
- Troubled his animal blood.
- Minnaloushe runs in the grass
- Lifting his delicate feet.
- Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance?
- When two close kindred meet,
- What better than call a dance?
- Maybe the moon may learn,
- Tired of that courtly fashion,
- A new dance turn.
- Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
- From moonlit place to place,
- The sacred moon overhead
- Has taken a new phase.
- Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils
- Will pass from change to change,
- And that from round to crescent,
- From crescent to round they range?
- Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
- Alone, important and wise,
- And lifts to the changing moon
- His changing eyes.

It’s One of the Healthier Candies
While it’s traditionally made with honey and corn syrup and contains roughly 28 grams of sugar per serving, Candy Corn is fat-free and only 140 calories per handful. So enjoy the stuff in good health (if you can stomach it).
National Candy Corn Day is observed annually on October 30th.
As you can see from the photo above, dievca loves candy corn – but only at Halloween. she does not like the candy pumpkins and swears that the white part tastes different than the rest of the corn…
Where do you stand on this issue?🌽🎃🌽
Avoiding the Costume on Halloween~

dievca puts the pumpkin on her door to let kids know she is open to Trick-Or-Treating, she cuts fresh pumpkins for Jack-O-Lanterns, she loves seeing the kids in costumes.
she can’t seem to generate as much energy and enthusiasm for adults in costume….listening to a friend bleat about a costume of a pregnant Ripley from Alien doesn’t inspire her.
And the thought she has a Halloween engagement party AND a Halloween-themed wedding really doesn’t grab her. (Two different couples)
Apparently, she is no fun~
Under that duress of that looming costume engagement party AND wedding, dievca is trying to figure out a way to work some type of clothing that doesn’t make her a curmudgeon.
Can she get drink over here?
Inspired by air-breathing arthropods that have eight legs…
Here is her spring-board of possible items:
OK, the last photo is IT! Look how adorable on a kid – what a mess on an adult.
Help, this ship is sinking.
We’re ok and saving a Pumpkin

As a “Thank You” to the Halloween Holiday taking the kids away from the bike path — dievca carved one of the Bodega pumpkins with Master after work.
she will use the other for Thanksgiving decorations.
Here’s what we got:
The pumpkin was starting to rot, so the mouth was an attempt at a smirk. It also had a lot of interior ‘gunk’ that came out like spaghetti which made it glow. It’s sitting off the fire escape.
Have a SAFE evening.

dievca bought the last two large pumpkins at her local bodega. They are a little bit strangely shaped – but it will still be fun carving them with Master. she will have to see if she can find an apron to put over her lingerie.
