dievca’s right foot grew a half-size and her knee won’t last long with unpadded sandals.
So, the closet has gained some space.
The good news is that dievca has a friend who wears the same size sandals!
The rest will go to Goodwill.
The only replacement pair that dievca bought is … fugly:
During COVID, dievca had a three-month period where she was able to rehab her back. Selfishly, it was one of the best things to happen to her regarding her health. she didn’t/doesn’t want a relapse of COVID or another virus in any way, but it might give her time to work on her knee, she needs it.
Last week, dievca had scheduled appointments for two Orthopedic Doctors. to look at her knee – one appointment is this Thursday and one in June. Her schedule blew up when her knee popped going up the 3rd flight of stairs from the Subway yesterday. she was stuck for a period of time trying to figure out how to get up the final 2 stairs. Finally, she slowly made it out of the subway and into a cab. The Cabbie got her to an UrgentCare and was super patient and kind – sometimes you gotta love NYC.
Why an UrgentCare? dievca knew x-rays were not needed immediately – but she did need, crutches, large ace bandages, and confirmation of her injured areas. The UrgentCare Doctor was great – the pop occurred at the ACL/PCL area – she (the Doctor) felt like there might be a cyst behind the ligaments. The area popped again (lightly) when the Dr. palpitated the area. Yes, there is chronic swelling at the meniscus (livable), the knee cap may have chips (that needs an x-ray – but not the main issue), etc. dievca knows the damage has been building for a while due to past foot/calf injuries + aging.
Anyways, dievca scheduled another group to look at the knee Monday 8am, to get “The Party” started. she has the crutches and ace bandages — the pain has receded to certain positions and angles which gives her more information for the next set of Doctors.
The Uber home included a lovely, patient driver. Again, you’ve gotta love NYC.
If you are thinking – where was dievca’s Master? He was the first call of the morning to talk about the Doctor who is scheduled for Thursday. Then after the pop, He spoke with dievca in the cab and said he would come down immediately – but it wasn’t necessary when dievca knew He had family coming in town to stay.
dievca just wishes she could have made it to Thursday without the pain and loss of mobility.
dievca has 6 pairs of boots sitting on the kitchen table sorted for resale. They are favorite boots that were a size 7-7.5, she now needs a size 8 to hold her right foot.
Here’s what is leaving – you’ve seen these on the blog (roll over the photos to see the brands):
dievca had success on eBay finding the Rodeo Brava Motorcycle Boots in the next size ($40), she’s eye-balling the Roberto del Carlo blue suede boots on eBay, two sizes up – nib.
she’d like to get a pair of cowboy boots and the red ones above caught her eye, they are the Free People New Frontiers Western Boots in red $148. she thought they would make Master laugh. He is always entertained by dievca’s boots.
But dievca cannot justify buying those cute red boots because she owns these Chloe Rylee Python Booties in red:
Local gyms are offering free online classes, Peloton is offering a free 90-day subscription (including classes that don’t need bike), people are doing classes via youtube, etc. dievca sees her neighbors working out in their apartments (Remember, she lives in a fishbowl). she’s been doing personal workouts and online workouts, too.
So…how many weekend warriors are getting injured?
Where do they go if the injury is more severe and cannot be taken care of at a clinic?
The hospitals are overwhelmed with COVID-19.
Maybe at the USNS Comfort:
The Comfort’s 1,000 beds and 12 operating rooms will largely be used for non-coronavirus patients, freeing up much-needed space at the city’s overtaxed hospitals. The ship is typically used to support military campaigns and humanitarian crises abroad, along with earthquake and hurricane relief. Most recently, it was deployed to Latin America, helping countries with inadequate health care systems. It was last stationed in New York City after the 9/11 terrorist attacks where it helped treat hundreds of first responders.

During the conversation dievca had with the Millenials who gave blood there was a discussion about how they were so astounded at the amount of time, effort and clean-up involved with cooking at home.😳 Maybe the USNS Comfort will be dealing with kitchen knife incidents or burn issues for these newly minted cooks.
What are the numbers?
At least no one is really driving the city – so auto accident numbers should be down.
Lisbon is a lot of walking on hills paved with cobblestones.
Gorgeous views, excellent wine, heat, plus a lot of people in August.
Avoiding the trams due to crowds
Age comes into it when you pull a hamstring and your hips/back step in to carry the load. Makes for a really hurting 7th day.
dievca is laying low, stretching and trying to get her muscles to relax before the flight on Sunday… Wish her luck. XO
