Caffeine at the pool on a Monday morning~

Forward Crawl and Backstroke doing well.  The dolphin kick was a bit of a mess. Not using the quads enough to match the top and bottom kicks – working on it.

Today dievca’s building is shutting down the elevators from 5 am to 7 am for a full fire inspection. dievca  has a plan for coffee on the sundeck to watch the sunrise and an early swim.  How packed are the elevators going to be at 4:45 am?  Who knows – worst case scenario, dievca has coffee at home and she cancels the swim reservation.

Good Morning! have a lovely week.

Dealing with drag ~ in the physics sense

In fluid dynamics, drag (sometimes called fluid resistance) is a force acting opposite to the relative motion of any object moving with respect to a surrounding fluid. This can exist between two fluid layers (or surfaces) or between a fluid and a solid surface.

Unlike other resistive forces, such as dry friction, which are nearly independent of velocity, the drag force depends on velocity.

Drag forces always tend to decrease fluid velocity relative to the solid object in the fluid’s path.

So, dievca wore this swimsuit to WaterWorks class today:

The class was canceled, last minute, and dievca decided to swim laps instead.  The Bleu by Rod Beattie “Walk the Line” swimsuit above has a scoop neck and an underwire “bra” which is great for bouncing in the pool, not so good for swimming laps…  The scoop neck, scooped up water and the underwire kept it in the suit longer – almost like a solid creating drag.  Let’s just say that dievca was pretty darn slow. But, she looked good sunning herself on the sundeck after her swim!

Channeling Esther Williams today~

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp each salt & pepper
  • 1 (650mL) jar marinara sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 10 uncooked lasagna noodles broken into approx. 1-2 inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

Stovetop instructions

  • Sauté ground beef in a large pot over med-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes. Add onions and garlic, sautéing another 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add remaining ingredients except for cheeses and fresh herbs, stirring to combine then bringing to a boil. Place lid on pot and simmer for 20 minutes until pasta is cooked through.
  • Serve soup in large bowls, sprinkling mozzarella cheese overtop and topping with a dollop of ricotta. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, then serve and enjoy!

Slow cooker instructions

  • Brown the beef, onions and garlic in a large skillet over med-high heat for 5 minutes. Add to slow cooker, along with remaining ingredients except cheese. Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours. Top with cheeses, then serve and enjoy!

Instant Pot instructions

  • Brown the beef, onions and garlic using the sauté feature for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, except for cheeses, pushing the pasta underneath the liquid. Cook on high pressure for 3 minutes, then do a quick release. Top bowls with cheeses, then serve and enjoy!

Lazy Summer

Margo Robbie British Vogue“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”

You’ve gotta be like a shark…

to reserve a lane at dievca’s local swimming hole.
One person allowed in one lane for 30 minutes.
Reservations open up 24 hours before the session and they are gone within 20 seconds.
So that’s 6+ people lurking on their computers waiting for a registration time to open.
Circling for the kill.

A hilarious thought, really.

And then something brings absolute Sparkle to your day~

Like everyone, dievca has her worries.  They add up to create fatigue. Then there is evidence that one of the worries is bucking the trend and involved with something you know brings them shear Joy. dievca started crying when her Mom’s caregivers sent photos of something beautiful:

Mom looks like the Goddess she is…

Fantasy VS. Reality

The Norma Kamali Sequin underwire top and bottoms are exclusive to Net-A-Porter and are something to dream about~ Can you see the suit poolside in Miami, FL?

dievca has a little over a month to work on her poolside presentation. The best full-body workout that will be easy on a torn hamstring/calf and back is swimming. Reality is that dievca will be wearing Stella McCartney for Adidas and Speedo. Let’s hope she can be disciplined for Master and her training.

Swiming in NYC

August 14, 1938, Floating Bath Hudson River at 96th Street

It’s hot!
dievca and Master are going swimming, but not in the Hudson River.

The river is a bit dirty and the currents can be significant.
Instead, they will be hitting a local lap pool.

  • Stella McCartney x Adidas Orange Snakeskin One-Piece Swimsuit.
  • Speedo Black Silicone Swim Cap.
  • Speedo Clear Hydroplex Goggles.

OK, the suit is not super-glamorous on the sundeck. It is reasonably flattering.

Diving into Summer

Diving deep for release
Cares and worries sluicing off my back
Floating mindlessly
Finding peace in honesty
Joy in the ability to be
