Spring Vintage

dieva caught up with Master and offered a Presentation outfit of blue.  A vintage satin polka dot nightgown and robe set from I. Magnin.  (The same set is offered at Poshmark if you are interested.) Simple elegance for Spring.

dievca remembers going to the Chicago I. Magnin stores with her Mother – very glamourous.

I. Magnin & Company was a San Francisco, California-based high fashion and specialty goods luxury department store. Over the course of its existence, it expanded across the West into Southern California and the adjoining states of Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. In the 1970s, under Federated Department Stores ownership, the chain entered the Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, DC, metropolitan areas. Mary Ann Magnin founded the company in 1876 and named the chain after her husband Isaac. The chain was liquidated in 1994.

Heading back to Wet Snow

Wet snow

dievca’s flying back Midwest to watch and sort “slides!’ from her Parents.  Should be an interesting time as the slides are from before she was born.  Her oldest brother will be helping and she asked some cousins to be “on call” for identification help.  Doesn’t matter – there will be 6 “rugrats” running around and that, plus wet snow, will make for a good time.  dievca’s got her snow boots and snow pants at the ready.  Have a good weekend!

A free ticket to Ride

Fashion show in the air

Fashion show in the air: entertainment for the passengers of the flights New York – Miami. The latest beach fashion is presented on board. Photography. About 1930.

dievca had a free plane ticket to use up.
she’s heading to Miami, Florida for Thanksgiving, –
which is perfect because she should heal in the sun with Vitamin D.
The weather shows highs of 82F (28C) and lows of 72F (22C).

There is a little Catholic guilt about not seeing Family…
but she’ll get over it!

dievca is on the MOVE this morning – are you?

Good Morning!

Do people watch a television any more?

don-flowers-glamour-girls-art-sexy telivision girl

Or is everyone streaming content? Netflix, AppleTV, peacock, Disney+, etc.
Does broadcast television exist anymore?
Where does one start when you haven’t watched a “show” in years?
dievca was working under the theory that she would watch TV when her body couldn’t move anymore.
she’d catch up on all the movies she hadn’t seen or watch “Sex in the City” for the 1st time.
Now there is too much content.
she’s frozen.
Analyze to Paralyze…

God, is the World passing dievca by? or can she catch a ride on the next trend?

Anyone out there feeling the same?

marinière and memories

A marinière (French: [maʁinjɛʁ]), or tricot rayé (French: [tʁiko ʁɛje]; lit. ‘striped sweater’), is a cotton long-armed shirt with horizontal blue and white stripes.

Bronson-Mens-Breton-Stripe-Long-Sleeve-Shirts-Causaldievca was reading an article about when family members die, its hard to get rid of their “stuff” because of your memories attached to their items or the memories of the person who used the item. Whew – that was a mouthful.  For example, dievca has her Dad’s Levi’s looped Terry Cloth Shirt from the 1970’s. With a boat neck and 3/4 sleeves in white with blue stripes it looks like a marinière-style shirt. She remembers him wearing it to the Tennis Courts or the Pool. It’s still wearable and looped terry cloth clothing is “in”.

And then there is other stuff that you keep because you think you will use it. And – shocker! – you do use it.  Like a vintage Ice Cream scoop (1937) from you Aunt and her two 10″ Aires Box Fans (circa 2004 – received, new in box).

Mind you, those box fans have now been used and knocked over a number of times and because they are plastic/slighty flexible – they keep bouncing back for more. Something of Use!

All three items keep you cool in the Summer, all three items are practical and all three offer memories.
Three items that dievca doesn’t feel guilty for keeping.

Feeling…

Gorgeous.

Sometimes you need to check in with your feelings.
Do you ever wonder what your Sir or Mistress is feeling?
