Frustration – Classic Editor

Is anyone else absolutely frustrated?

OK, COVID-19 and the election are more important and annoying – but the WordPress switch to the new editor is infuriating.

Many people blog for pleasure. They are not looking for the newest, hottest technology. If that was the case, they would have moved to Instagram ages ago. Or follow whatever trend rolls through~

dievca – the blog, doesn’t translate to YouTube, Instagram, or Twitter well.    The risqué content limits the audience reached through the WordPress search options. Yet, the blog format works with dievca’s content and has drawn an audience via Google/search engines – not WordPress.

Why does dievca know this? she bought a Business Plan to use Classic Editor plug-in. Yes – she could create on the plug-in, but her blog posts were stored in a staging area and then pushed to WordPress. she lost access to her audience except for people who receive the blog via email or will look for her directly on WordPress. No more search engines, Pinterest or photos connections, etc. she had a drop of about 200-300 views.

dievca explained the numbers to the lovely “Happiness Engineer” and got her money back.  The blog numbers are recovering.

So, now she is on the new editor and tried to load a number of photos… Think of her multiple photos of Sophia Loren in lingerie – not easily done in the new editor. Or maybe it is, but it will take dievca 3 hours to figure it out! Not a pleasure to blog.

Alright – dievca apologises – she is whinging.
But is anyone else frustrated?

Monday Morning Musings (and questions)

Hello,
Good Morning! How are you?
I survived the weekend intact, did you? I am back at work bright and early this morning, too. It’s just that time of the year~

My blog is running out of media memory — has anyone else run into that issue? I have  some time before it goes, but the countdown has started — “what to do, what to do”.

At the same time this is occurring, I am starting to focus on setting up a third (count ’em) graduate degree program.  I came into a small amount of money and am looking at a scholarship.  We will see what happens.

Add that Master is having some heath issues — nothing serious, but enough to be a headache. I cannot help, so I keep an eye open and wait.

Overall, I am focused on certain pieces of Life and distracted by others.

I guess what I am asking in this post is —what do you think about blogging?
Is it a dying skill with Instagram all over?
Is it too hard to take time to read when you are bombarded by quick hits like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.?

What do you want to do with your time?
What do I want to do with my time?
Who should we spend it with?

Thank you for spending time with me. XO
